Your health is important to us, therefore St. James Parish Hospital laboratory is committed to making it easy to get all of your blood test done right here close to home. SJPH and your doctor realize how valuable your time is. Allow us to save you the time and inconvenience of traveling outside of the community for your lab needs. We accepted written and faxed orders from all physicians, local and out of town. Our lab team continues to add test to our in-house menu to meet you and your physicians needs. Most tests are done daily and faxed to your doctor’s office that day.
St. James Parish Hospital has stayed committed to keeping up with advances in technology. Its advanced chemistry analyzer performs a wide variety of chemistry testing from cardiac markers to lipid profiles. This analyzer allows the laboratory to test a wide range of therapeutic drug levels and provide physicians with faster lab results, thus helping patients receive faster diagnosis and treatment. The laboratory also utilizes a cutting-edge hematology analyzer. This analyzer allows technologist to program multiple samples at one time leading to quicker turnaround time for blood count results for patients.
Outpatient hours are from 7am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday and from 8am to 12noon on Saturday. In addition, the Laboratory Department is staffed 24/7 for emergency services.

- Therapeutic Drug Testing
- Urinalysis
- Complete Blood Count
- Chemical Profiles to check heart, liver, and kidney functions
- Blood Bank cross-matching
- Chain of custody drug screens
- Serology testing (RSV, mononucleosis, rheumatoid arthritis, pregnancy testing, c-diff, and influenza testing
- Coagulation studies for Coumadin therapy
