St. James Parish Hospital’s Patient Account Services staff is here to assist you with your billing and insurance payment questions.
Our experienced staff helps with filing claims and attempts to make the business end of your hospital experience easier for you and your family.
Patient Account Services
Patient Billing – as a courtesy to our patients, St. James Parish Hospital will file all necessary third-party payor claims once the information has been provided to us. St. James Parish Hospital has signed managed care/preferred provided contracts with the following insurance carriers:

If you do not see your network here, please call to verify status or inquire about the possibility of adding.
Once you have been discharged, you will receive an initial statement that includes a summary of your charges.
After third-party payment has either been received or denied (see Insurance Claims for more information on denials), St. James Parish Hospital will then send you a statement of your payment responsibilities. For your convenience, payments or payment arrangements may be made:
- Online via Online Bill Pay service with a debit card or credit card – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Visit the website at www.stjamesparishhospital.com.
- In Person with cash, check, debit card or credit card during regular business hours at the cashier window located in the hospital.
- Via phone with check, debit card or credit card during regular business hours by calling 225-869-5512 option 5.
- By mail. Send payment with your statment stub to:

- By financing with a bank loan at a financial institution of your choice.
Monthly payment Options are available.
Please contact St. James Parish Hospital will work with all patients to provide satisfactory payment schedules. If you have questions about payment options, call 225-869-5512 option 5.
NOTE: If you receive certain tests or procedures during your hospital stay, you will receive multiple bills. For example, a patient could receive bills for services performed by a surgeon, or anesthesiologist and a radiologist (physician who reads x-rays). Also, if you have surgery that requires pathology services, you will receive bill for professional interpretation fees from the physician (pathologist) who evaluates the sample. Billing questions of these entities should be addressed to the contact information included in the billing statement.
Insurance Claims – St. James Parish Hospital patient account services staff works as a patient advocate with insurance companies to ensure claims are processed and paid in a timely manner. Our staff helps you weed through the often-confusing claims and denial process. St. James Parish Hospital is committed to resolving claim issues quickly to help our patients avoid the stress of delayed or unpaid claims.
