Clinical PhilosophyWe believe that:
All of the clinical departments are an integral component of St. James Parish Hospital and, as such, recognize, appreciate, and function within the purposes for which this institution is organized.
Each person is a unique individual and is entitled to safety and quality care which is delivered by using a team approach of genuine professional caliber. We believe the characteristic feature of patient care should be genuine concern for the needs of each individual regardless of race, creed, color or financial status and that all activities of the department should be directed to provide necessary restorative and preventive care to promote the patient’s independence.
This philosophy relating to patients as individuals does not stop with the patient and that the same philosophy is extended to the hospital staff. Each employee is an individual who functions best when his/her needs for security, belonging, approval, and self-fulfillment are met.
The practice of patient care requires substantial specialized judgment and skill, the implementation of which is based on knowledge and application of principles of biological, physical, and behavioral sciences.
We believe the responsibility of the caregiver is to maintain safety and quality of practice that assures the patient safe, efficient and effective care to restore health when restoration is possible, to prevent complications, and to support the patient and family when restoration of health is not humanly possible. We recognize the caregiver’s role in this effort must be coordinated with the roles of other health care professionals. |
