St. James Parish Hospital was announced as a 2018 recipient of the Funds for Safety Grant sponsored and funded by the LHA Trust Funds. This is the fourth time St. James Parish Hospital has earned this grant.

The 2018 safety grant will be used to enhance the hospital’s fall prevention program. This improvement will take place over the course of the next year.

The hospital’s previous grant projects focused on reducing readmissions, enhancing radiation safety, improving safety culture, preventing hospital-acquired infections, reducing risks of drug-resistant infections, training housekeeping staff on new disinfection recommendations (displayed in photo) and tools to better develop the hospital’s Code Silver response.

The Funds for Safety Grant Program was created in 2012 by the LHA Trust Funds to help fund its members’ initiatives to improve patient or visitor safety. Since its creation, the grant program has awarded more than $1.7 million to fund approximately 100 unique projects for facilities in Louisiana.

The entire team at St. James Parish Hospital works on new projects throughout the year focused on improving patient safety and quality.
