Inpatient Coder

Description:

St. James Parish Hospital is now hiring a full-time Inpatient Coder to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes and modifiers to patient records according to established procedures.

Duties:

• Assign appropriate diagnosis & procedure codes with appropriate modifiers within the established time frame
• Assign charge codes when necessary
• Follow ICD-10, CPT and AHA Coding Clinic guidelines and queries physicians appropriately for correct coding/DRG assignment
• Manage revenue cycle by addressing revenue cycle queue on at least a weekly basis
• Perform other duties related to job, when necessary, i.e., scanning paper records, track quantitative and qualitative deficiencies
• Release protected health information upon request to physicians and patient or a patient representative when necessary

Requirements:

RHIA, RHIT, CCS or RMC/CPC with 3-5 years of inpatient and same-day surgery coding experience
7 years’ acute care coding experience
Knowledge of Anatomy, physiology and medical terminology
Excellent computer and communication skills
Drug Test
Background Check

High School Diploma

Monday - Friday (8-hour shifts)
