Description:

St. James Parish Hospital is now hiring a Maintenance Tech. The Maintenance Tech will work under the direction of the Facilities Manager to complete general maintenance requests by hospital departments in addition to assisting with the upkeep of the facility and grounds.

Duties:

  • Respond timely to routine work request and obtains proper permits prior to performing general maintenance, repair, construction, service and support for utility systems and equipment supporting all departments, facilities and properties. The status and completion of all work, along with permits, are accurately documented in the facility’s computerized work order system and effectively communicated to the requesting department and management
  • Perform all assigned preventative maintenance tasks as per the manufacturers’ specifications and/or regulatory requirements on all equipment and utility systems. Responsible for maintaining an inventory of all assets. All new equipment shall be accessed for risk, categorized, assigned PM tasks, then added to the inventory timely within the computerized work order system. All assets taken out of service shall be removed from inventory and communicated with management for proper disposal.  All documentation of these tasks shall be completed timely and accurately and filed for retrieval.  All failures shall be resolved, coordinated with management, and documented.
  • Maintain grounds safely and in accordance with an approved schedule.  Tasks associated with the maintenance of the exterior grounds include:  grass cutting, weed-eating, edging, installation and maintenance of mulching, landscaping, lawn irrigation systems, maintenance of sidewalks, shrubs and trees, along with maintaining the appearance of exterior grounds for all properties. All tasks are completed following all safety standards and best practices
  • During times of construction, all scheduled work is coordinated with the Infection Control Officer, Safety Officer and affected departments. An Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) permit is completed and obtained in conjunction with the Infection Control Officer prior to starting any work. Interim Life Safety Measures (ISLM) risks are assessed and implemented in conjunction with the Safety Officer prior to starting any work.
  • Oversee, coordinate and communicate with contractors during installation, repairs, and maintenance of equipment and utility systems. Effectively communicates recommendations and actions with management.  Maintain a healthy rapport with service contractors and acts as the liaison between the hospital and contractors.
  • According to the hospital’s “On-Call” policy, responds appropriately to after hour urgent requests (if assigned to call)
  • Use proper troubleshooting techniques to identify failures and provides solutions by being able to perform a variety of maintenance crafts such as carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC.

Full-Time

Requirements:

Strong understanding of general maintenance processes and can demonstrate experience as a maintenance technician
Basic understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other systems
Experienced in operating a variety of equipment, including lifts, lawn equipment and small hand and power tools
Working knowledge of hospital utility systems, common hospital equipment and biomedical devices
Excellent problem-solving skills
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Current CPI certification
Background Check
Drug Test

Education Required:

Highschool Diploma or Equivalent

Shift:

Monday - Friday (8-hour shifts)
