MRI Technician

Description:

St. James Parish Hospital is now hiring a PRN MRI Technician to join our Radiology Team. The MRI Technician assumes responsibility and accountability for the delivery of quality imaging and diagnostic care.

Duties:

• Operate all radiographic and/or fluoroscope equipment according to manufacture guidelines and determine techniques for appropriate exam with attention to age specific considerations
• Perform all radiographic/fluoroscope procedures in accordance with department policies including surgical and emergency procedures with attention to age specific considerations
• Correctly label each image with personal marker and evaluate for image quality
• Correctly scan documents and properly charge exams
• Obtain appropriate consent
• Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients and others with attention to age specific considerations
• Provide patient education for pre and post exams with attention to age specific considerations
• Performs all MRI/CT procedures in accordance with department policies with attention to age specific considerations
• Correctly use all functions of MRI/CT equipment including printing/sending of images, correct usage of all MRI coils and archiving and storing images using established methods
• Properly administer oral and IV contrast using the CT/MRI injector with attention to age specific considerations
• Corroborate patient’s clinical history for exam including completion of history forms
• Additional duties as assigned by Director of Imaging

Requirements:

Satisfactory completion of cross training in MRI and CT
Previous experience in Radiology (MRI and CT) (preferred)
ARRT Registered
Licensed as a Radiographic by Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board
Current BLS certification
MRI-Registered (preferred)
CT-Registered (preferred)
Knowledgeable of cross-section anatomy
Background Check
Drug Test
Proficient using departmental computers and associated programs
Knowledgeable in Medical Terminology

Education Required:

High School Diploma (or equivalent)
Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
