Komen Grant Funds Free Breast Screenings

St. James Parish Hospital was recently awarded grant funds from the Bayou Region Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

The grant will fund 50 free screening mammograms for indigent, uninsured and/or underinsured woman age 40 or over in St. James Parish. The grant also includes 10 free diagnostic mammograms and 10 free breast ultrasounds.  A doctors’ order is required for the screenings.

This grant is available until March 15, 2016 or until all screenings are utilized. If you or someone you know qualifies and is in need of a mammogram, call Rachel Becnel, Project Coordinator, at 225.258.5906. To schedule a mammogram, contact the Radiology Department at 225.258.5953.

St. James Parish Hospital leaders are actively involved with the Susan G. Komen Foundation through board memberships and committee positions for the foundation’s annual Race for the Cure. In addition, the hospital hosts a Pink Ribbon Event each year in which donations are accepted to help fund the program that offers grants to help those in need within the St. James Parish community.
