St. James Parish Hospital’s Occupational Therapy Team is dedicated to offering personalized, compassionate care to help patients with health issues, disabilities, injuries and impairments improve, recover or maintain their ability to perform activities required in daily living. It is our goal to combine creativity and problem solving to determine a therapy intervention that makes meaningful changes in a patient’s quality of life.
In addition to conventional therapy tools, our hospital patients have access to an “ADL” Gym (activities of daily living) which allows them to practice and improve movements while performing certain necessary activities that might be common in a household or when living alone such as loading a dishwasher or reaching into a kitchen cabinet.
Our patients also have access to custom splinting, a hand-therapy station and dry-heat therapy to help control pain and improve range of motion.
- ADL Gym (Activities of Daily Living)
