St. James Parish Hospital was recently named one of three 2020 Safety Star Award recipients by the Louisiana Hospital Association (LHA) Trust Funds.

The Safety Star Award is presented to healthcare facilities who have successfully implemented new processes or developed innovative ideas that improve patient safety.

St. James Parish Hospital was recognized for its patient safety initiative, “Hospital-Acquired Pressure Ulcer Reduction.” Reduction of press ulcers is a national patient safety initiative. St. James Parish Hospital implemented pressure ulcer prevention (PUP) bundle kits. Streamlining the hospital’s wound care policies allowed staff members to accurately report and intervene with patients that showed an increased risk of pressure ulcers.

The three Safety Star Award recipients will receive recognition from LHA Trust Funds and a $10,000 award for the facility. The LHA Trust Funds has served Louisiana healthcare facilities and physicians with insurance solutions for more than three decades.

St. James Parish Hospital makes a constant commitment to improving the quality of care in its hometown hospital. When you choose your local hospital, you choose safety, quality and compassion.
