St. James Parish Hospital leaders recently attended the Louisiana Hospital Association’s (LHA) Annual Fall Conference and Pelican Awards Luncheon where the hospital won seven prestigious awards.

St. James Parish Hospital won a total of six awards for the planning and marketing of its 2013 Community Benefit “Story Book” and its annual Pink Ribbon Event. In addition, to winning Pelican Awards in several categories, Director of Marketing Kassie Roussel was presented a “Best of Show” Award for the creative writing of the hospital’s Community Benefit Report. The Jacqueline Leonhard Writing Award was named after the state’s first healthcare public relations practitioner.

LHA Pelican Awards recognize excellence in hospital public relations and marketing with the goal to improve the quality and effectiveness of hospital communications. Hospitals from across the state compete in different categories for the awards, which are judged based on planning, implementation, results and creativity.

Roussel was also invited to serve on the LHA Public Relations and Marketing Board of Directors. During the luncheon, the new board was introduced and will begin serving for the 2014-2015 fiscal year.

St. James Parish Hospital is a Joint Commission accredited, full-service facility providing excellent, quality and compassionate healthcare to the community since 1955. For more information, visit www.sjph.org or call 225.869.5512.
