St. James Parish Hospital is proud to announce the addition of a new pediatrician, Dr. Pamela Woods, MD, to begin providing services at the West Bank Clinic in Vacherie in September.
With over nine years of experience in healthcare, Dr. Woods brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to the community. She earned her medical degree in general pediatrics from LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. Most recently, she served as the Medical Director of a pediatric day health care facility for medically fragile children.
Originally from New Jersey but raised in Baton Rouge, she developed a love for healthcare early on and discovered her passion for pediatrics while working at a local daycare center. “[Children] are generally always happy, so inquisitive, and they give the best hugs,” says Dr. Woods. “I think that combined with my passion for child development and the opportunity to impact their lives from birth to early adulthood sealed the deal for me.”
Dr. Woods is eager to become part of the St. James Parish community and to contribute to the hospital’s mission. “During my first meeting with [CEO Mary Ellen Pratt], I connected with her vision of exceptional, accessible, and family-centered pediatric care for this area. As a pediatrician, I partner with parents to ensure children reach their full potential, mentally, physically, and emotionally.”
Jennifer Rodrigue, Physician Clinic and Urgent Care Manager, expressed her excitement about the expansion of pediatric services. “Bringing a pediatrician and new pediatric services to our community ensures families have greater access to age-appropriate specialized care and preventive services, including childhood vaccines, right here at home. We pride ourselves on offering services that are conveniently located and easy to navigate and will continue to listen and respond to community needs… We are super excited to add Dr. Woods to our established team of family practice professionals allowing us to tend to the medical needs of patients at all stages of life.”
