« ReturnSt. James Parish Hospital’s Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) are board-certified and licensed through LBESPA and ASHA to assess and treat a wide variety of speech, language, swallowing and cognitive disorders.
Our team also offers in-house modified barium swallow studies/pharyngograms for inpatients and outpatients with dysphagia.
Our Speech-Language Therapists have experience treating conditions such as:
- Aphasia/apraxia
- Cognitive impairment (memory, reasoning, attention)
- Neurogenic stutter
- Dysphagia/swallowing difficulty
- Dysarthria/slurred speech
- Voice disorder/hoarseness, weakness
- Oral motor deficits
Speech -Language Therapy may help patients with the following diagnoses:
- Cerebrovascular accident/stroke
- Brain injury (traumatic or non-traumatic)
- Neurological condition (i.e., Parkinson’s, dementia)
- Guillain-Barre syndrome
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Cardio-pulmonary disorder
- Brain tumor
- Myasthenia gravis
- Degenerative disease
Hours, Appointments and Referrals
We offer outpatient appointments Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm. A physician referral is required.
Our inpatient services are offered Monday through Friday from 8am to 3pm. Services are provided on an as-needed basis.
