St. James Parish Hospital CEO Mary Ellen Pratt was recently named one of the nation’s “Top 60 Rural Hospital CEOs to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review. This prestigious honor marks Mary Ellen’s fifth time being recognized as a US CEO leading positive change in rural healthcare.

Becker’s Hospital Review highlights select Chief Executives from across the nation that preside over exemplary organizations while simultaneously leading advancement in rural healthcare both locally and globally.

Mary Ellen is deeply committed to protecting and expanding access to quality healthcare in rural communities. She truly believes that everyone has a basic right to not only care, but the highest quality care.

She is heavily involved on many boards and committees aimed at improving access and expanding awareness of the importance of rural hospitals. Her passion and amazing ability to effectively communicate complicated information makes her heavily pursed for presentations at national conferences and commentary on healthcare publications.

Through her direction, St. James Parish Hospital has added patient beds, opened a Medical Plaza, hired physicians, opened new clinics, created the community’s first Urgent Care and expanded hospital services on both sides of the river.

Most recently, the hospital broke ground on a Medical Plaza expansion that will allow for growth in urgent care, occupational medicine, outpatient therapy and numerous specialists that our community previously had no choice but to drive for.

Mary Ellen never allows growth to compromise quality. St. James Parish Hospital is often contacted to pilot both state and national initiatives aimed at improving the safety and quality of care.
