Hospital Announces Partnership for Community Pharmacy

St. James Parish Hospital is extremely excited to announce a partnership with ProxsysRx, an independent hospital pharmacy services provider, to open a new, retail pharmacy in Lutcher. Parish Pharmacy will operate inside the Medical Plaza next to St. James Parish Hospital.

“Last year one of our local pharmacies closed, which negatively impacted our community,” said Mary Ellen Pratt, FACHE, St. James Parish Hospital CEO.

“Community members began expressing a need for additional pharmacy services to our board, staff, and physicians. As more and more people reached out to us, we realized it was our responsibility to help fill this essential healthcare service.”

A partnership with ProxsysRx brings expertise, experience, and new resources. Parish Pharmacy in Lutcher is the company’s 28th hospital-based pharmacy nationwide.

“Hospital pharmacy service needs are different than that of a typical free-standing retail pharmacy,” said George Salem, CEO of ProxsysRx.

“We understand these specialized needs and work with hospitals to help optimize pharmacy-related solutions for patients, staff, and community members to make these services more coordinated and convenient throughout the continuum of care.”

Both St. James Parish Hospital and ProxsysRx look forward to sharing more information as the new space is built out and licensing is completed.
