St. James Parish Hospital is one of 14 Louisiana healthcare facilities to receive the 2023 Funds for Safety grant sponsored by LHA Trust Funds. The annual grant program helps healthcare organizations fund their unique patient safety improvement initiatives.

To improve the facility’s water quality, St. James Parish Hospital is upgrading its central sterile water system to a Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Treatment System. These systems are designed to meet or exceed the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards and reduce contaminants that contribute to infections, protect equipment and improve patient outcomes.

LHA Trust Funds created the Funds for Safety Grant Program in 2012 to help fund its members’ initiatives to improve patient safety. Since its creation, the grant program has awarded more than $3.3 million to fund more than 100 unique projects for facilities in Louisiana.

“Patient safety is a top priority here. The Louisiana Hospital Association Funds for Safety Grant Program has helped fund many safety initiatives in our community hospital. We are extremely grateful for the continued support,” said Mary Ellen Pratt, FACHE, St. James Parish Hospital CEO.
