The Security & Environmental Services Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of security and environmental service operations within St. James Parish Hospital’s facilities. This role includes developing, implementing and managing security protocols to ensure the safety of patients, staff, visitors and assets, as well as providing leadership and direction for continuous improvement of the standard environmental services operating model.

The manager will provide an optimal environment for patient care, safety, service, security and value as well as manage the day-to-day operations of the departments to ensure a consistently high level of security and cleanliness to patients, visitors and staff.

Duties:

1. Security Operations Management:

  • Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and protocols in line with regulatory requirements and best practices
  • Supervise security personnel and coordinate their activities to ensure efficient operation of security systems
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks
  • Serve as liaison with law enforcement agencies during Security-related events
  • May be required to respond to after hours events or emergencies as needed
  • Oversee the operation of surveillance systems, including CCTV cameras, alarms, and access control systems
  • Investigate security incidents, accidents, and breaches to determine root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Conduct training sessions for hospital staff on security protocols, emergency procedures, and crisis management techniques

2. Environmental Services:

  • Establishes self as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) within Environmental Services, regulatory compliance, and training; demonstrating working knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting principles and proper chemical and equipment usage requirements
  • Planning, organizing, and directing team members to ensure the highest degree of patient satisfaction and high standards of cleanliness across the hospital
  • Promotes a culture of safety, infection prevention, and patient experience, as well as employee engagement and retention
  • Inspect work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness; conduct rounding activities to ensure environmental hygiene in all areas assigned
  • Ensures regulated medical waste is handled, packaged, stored, and disposed of in accordance with federal and state regulations, and appropriate documentation is maintained

Class:

Full-Time

Requirements:

Experience in criminal justice, security, management or environmental services
Experience in a healthcare or hospital setting

Education Required:

Associate’s Degree or at least three years related work experience
Designated trainer status for Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (T-CHEST) or the ability to obtain certification within 12 months of hire
